Mountain Voice: In a series of our Mountain Voice, the Climate Himalaya team interacted with youth in western Himalayan region of India to understand that how aware and concerned they are about various environment issues and how involved the Youth’s are in various developmental processes.
As per our interaction with Youth in western Himalayan region of India we observed that in real sense the youth are rally struggling with basic security of food, shelter and livelihood, while the environmental issues seem hobby of a few. We found that despite a number of claims as youth perspective, youth forum, etc. in real sense our rural and urban mountain youths are not rally aware about environment issues, while not involved in various developmental processes in this region.
Then, does this mean that to catch the attention, we are just using jargons…!
Sometime it also appears that rather going deeper in to the issues and interacting with the youths in coordinated manner our agencies find ease with interacting with elite urban youth and which shows the prejudices towards rural and semi urban one. Are we involved in getting just hold of those, who are already well off in terms of resources and access to them. To understand this we captured this introductory video so that we know that how much we are interacting with and involved in promoting youth in various environment and development processes.
