April 22, 1970 marked the first Earth Day. The Day activated 20 million people from all walks of life to do something to save their common heritage – Earth. Today, more than one billion people worldwide participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance anywhere in the world.

Earth Day Network began with the first Earth Day on April 22, 1970. Earth Day Network is a global NGO that works on environmental issues across the globe with over 22,000 partners. Earth Day Network’s Advisory Board has several eminent personalities on it.

What can YOU do to protect Earth?

Our planet is being neglected. Climate change continues unabated. Perhaps there is a new ecological disaster happening almost daily.
